RADIAL WORLDS REPORT FROM ANDY MALONEY
It was pretty cool having the 2008 Radial World Championships here
in NZ. It was awesome to have so many great sailors here in town to train with
prior to the regatta. Training against all the top female and male sailors like
Brad Funk, Michael Leigh and J.Sandall, was a great way to prepare for the Youth
Worlds. The Youth Worlds were very fun, with perfect sailing conditions which
included great waves and ideal winds. It was a great experience for me to be at
the top of a big fleet and learn how to handle leading a major competition.
Thanks to the Takapuna Boating Club, NZLA, and all the volunteers for hosting
the event and all your hard work. I’d also like to thank Yachting New Zealand
and especially Clifton Webb for coaching me during the worlds as I forgot
mention him in my speech at prizegiving, Whoops!

We
were grateful to have the support of Colin and TV3 to help fund the
event.
